Terms of Service

By creating a ChessPlay account or using the service, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you're using ChessPlay on behalf of an academy or organization, you represent that you're authorized to bind that organization to these Terms.

You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your password secure. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

• Plans are billed monthly or annually in advance.
• Free trials convert into a paid subscription unless cancelled before they end.
• All fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
• We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change means you accept the new price.
• Failed payments may result in suspension after a 7-day grace period.

You can cancel any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We'll keep your data for 90 days after cancellation in case you reactivate, then delete it.

You agree not to:

• Use ChessPlay for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
• Upload viruses, malware, or other malicious code.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the service.
• Resell or sublicense ChessPlay without our written permission.
• Send spam or unsolicited communications through ChessPlay.

You retain ownership of all data and content you upload (student records, lesson plans, branding, etc.). You grant ChessPlay a limited license to host, process, and display that content solely to operate the service for you.

ChessPlay, its logo, design, and software are owned by ChessPlay.io and protected by copyright and trademark laws. These Terms grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while your subscription is active.

We target 99.9% monthly uptime but don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance is announced in advance whenever possible. We're not liable for downtime caused by factors outside our reasonable control.

ChessPlay is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChessPlay's total liability arising out of or related to these Terms will not exceed the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or use the service in a way that risks harm to ChessPlay or other users. We'll give notice and a chance to cure where reasonable.

We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which ChessPlay.io is incorporated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless required otherwise by local consumer protection laws.
